The JustCo Story

JustCo is more than a business for me; it is my passion and calling for life. I started JustCo with my husband, Wan Sing KONG, Founder and CEO of the company, and my brother-in-law, Wan Long KONG, the other Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer. JustCo makes my life even fuller, even more beautiful and interesting everyday. I’ve always dreamed of starting something on my own, but I never thought that personal and professional lives would be so intertwined. Needless to say, I am very grateful about how everything came together. I’ve not only been part of building a business, but more importantly, I get to nurture startups, support freelancers, and help many large organisations change the way they work and grow. However, it didn’t happen in just one day. I was with a well-known company as a financial analyst, honing my financial and analytical skills. I was traveling from country to country for my various assignments while forming ideas that would bring my passion for building a business to light. The year 2010 was when it all came together. Despite having to give up my much-loved NYC life, I gained a beautiful family and a husband who was just as passionate as me about making a difference in what we do. He started JustOffice, a serviced office in Singapore, in 2011, and I joined the company after a year, when the business was accelerating in Singapore. Like many startup stories, the initial years were marked by a lot of dreams and doubts, ups and downs, and exciting and exhausting moments. Our second brand JustCo, a coworking space in Singapore, was launched in 2015, when coworking was still a new concept in Asia. We took a risk, betting that Asian entrepreneurs and employees would love to cooperate and share ideas in a shared workspace as much as their western counterparts. We now have 21 confirmed locations in China, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and soon in Korea and Australia. We have the ambitious target of opening 100 spaces by 2020. My role in JustCo is to nurture a culture of collaboration where workspace, business support, events, and lots of networking opportunities all come together. This is not different from the atmosphere I fell in love with when at Columbia Business School, where students collaborated to complete projects, and tapped on each other’s expertise to learn and grow. At JustCo, we offer people a range of options; they can work and socialise in either their own offices or hot-desks in the common area, either behind their computer screens or while using our shared facilities like ping-pong tables, arcade games, and swings (yes, like the ones you see in a park). They make friends, network with industry peers, attend thought-provoking events, gain advice from a host of senior business figures like Lazada COO, or learn to pitch their business ideas with the help of the PwC Venture Hub. Everyday, the community grows and expands and new connections are created, thanks also to our Community Managers, our true heroes, whom we chose based on their passion and collaboration capabilities. I had never dreamed that I could have so much fun (and yes, sometime stress too) at work. I had never dreamed that I would be doing this with the most important person in my life, my husband. Everyday I feel truly blessed, to continue to grow as a person and a leader in a business where there is so much passion, support and collaboration. I can’t wait to meet you in our community.
