Zumba, Pole Dancing, Pilates, Belly Dancing are just the tip of the iceberg of popular fitness classes across the years.
Exercise is often relegated to being a hobby, obsession, or a chore. Certainly, it can be any and all of these things. But it’s also an activity that gets more satisfying with knowledge and practice, without the need to be critical or competitive.
As much as there are a lot of people who are intimidated by group fitness classes, there are so much more individuals who attend these fun classes for a lot of reasons.
Not only will our health be improved, but we also pick up new amazing skills, gives us instant exercise buddies and of course our confidence will be boosted dramatically!
Working at JustCo is all about the work-life balance and we’re regularly transforming our coworking spaces into areas for fun and healthy activities. As part of JustCo’s embrace of the arts and fitness, we have collaborated with a pretty unique fitness studio, Called To The Barre, conducting barre sessions.
Called To The Barre was founded based on the fundamental values of encouraging a wellness-focused lifestyle, which involves eating well, and moving well.
Barre, a workout which draws inspirations from ballet, yoga, pilates and functional training, was originally founded in 1959 in a London basement of a ballerina, Lotte Berk, who incorporated her dance conditioning routine with rehabilitative therapy due to a back injury.
One does not need to have any ballet experience to participate, as it is perfect for people of all ages and fitness levels.
What is unique about barre is that even though isometric movements (think tiny, one-inch increments) are needed, it is undoubtedly enough to fire up the muscle and makes it more elastic.
Participants were definitely in for a treat for that day. Not only they were able to learn the magic of barre from the talented Candice, their resident ballerina, but they were also able to enjoy a bit of retail therapy as Style Lease showcased their gorgeous collection of wedding gowns.
